We are thrilled to participate again with the Poetry Coalition for their seventh annual March themed programming! The Poetry Coalition is a national alliance made of more than 25 independent poetry organizations across the United States dedicated to working together to promote the value poets bring to our culture and lives. As a founding member of the Poetry Coalition, Kundiman presents programming on a theme of social importance each March. This year, we will be collaborating towards the theme, “and so much lost you’d think / beauty had left a lesson: Poetry & Grief,” inspired by Ed Roberson’s poem “once the magnolia has blossomed.”
To honor the theme of poetry and grief, and help invite conversations on the significance of grief in our communities, Kundiman will present a free virtual workshop and host their annual Postcard Project.
This March, Rona Luo will teach her poetry workshop, "Writing Grief: Somatic Rituals for Revision.” We will explore somatic exercises in preparing for the revision process and opening new possibilities for writing. This workshop welcomes both those working through grief and anyone interested in exploring embodied practices for revision.
This class is a 1-day (75 minutes long) workshop on Saturday, March 25th from 3:00 PM–4:15 PM ET. This workshop is free and open to all writers of color. To register and learn more information, click here.
Throughout the month of March, Kundiman Fellows and the community will participate in their annual Postcard Project, involving writing and mailing postcard poems and engaging with the theme of poetry and grief. Weekly photo recaps of the Postcard Project will be shared on our social media pages.
Please join us by writing your own postcards and sending them out to loved ones! Share with us @kundimanforever, or use the hashtags #PoetryCoalition, #PoetryAndGrief, #PostcardProject, and #KundimanPostcards. For more information and weekly updates of our postcard creations, click here.
