As Kundiman closes out its 20th Anniversary year, we are reflecting on how we want to serve writers in the coming decades. Accordingly, Kundiman’s new Board has embarked on a just transition process in order to develop restorative and regenerative practices that prioritize justice, access, and power-sharing. We’re also implementing processes to ensure that Kundiman’s leadership engages in this work with transparency and care.
To focus on this just transition, the annual Kundiman Retreat will be on hiatus for the coming year. We fully expect the Retreat to resume following the completion of this important work, and we look forward to providing writers with a safe and instructive Retreat environment in the future. We plan for other Kundiman programs (such as readings, workshops, and events) to return in the latter half of 2025.
In the meantime, we invite you to participate in our Regional Groups’ year-round activities for exciting opportunities to connect with other writers. Kundiman Regional Groups host virtual and in-person events – including readings, meetups, and workshops – both nationally and internationally.
Thank you for supporting Kundiman over the past 20 years. We are excited to continue nurturing writers and readers, and we're looking forward to building new models toward liberation within the literary arts.
