Kundiman is excited to co-sponsor an event with McSweeney's and Asian American Writers' Workshop, celebrating Viet Thanh Nguyen & Ellison Nguyen's Chicken of the Sea! This new picture book is co-written by Nguyen's five-year-old son Ellison and illustrated by Caldecott Honor winner Thi Bui and her son, Hien. This illustrated book follows a band of chicken from the safety of their farm to the wild sea on a pirate ship adventure. With a sword-wielding mouse for a captain and three seasick chickens, the crew of the Pitiless ship may just be too chicken to get the gold in the end.
