Support the Courageous Act of Writing

We are so grateful to the 64 donors who have donated over $28,000 so far to support a fee-free Retreat. Kundiman’s Retreat has been a vital space for AAPI writers to honor each other's words. We are so close to meeting our fundraising goal and, thanks to your support, we’re excited to host a fee-free Retreat for our 20th anniversary!

Join us in this pivotal moment in Kundiman’s history by contributing a gift in the next two weeks. Kundiman has uplifted nearly 300 Fellows since the first Retreat in 2004, and we hope to welcome even more writers to this special space. In the words of Will Nuʻutupu Giles, a Kundiman fellow, performance poet, and arts educator:

“As an AAPI poet, being accepted wholeheartedly is not something I am accustomed to. Kundiman gave me the permission and courage to celebrate my voice.

At the end of the Retreat, I knew I made friendships that will last 40 years. That together we would fight to preserve, maintain, and expand these safe spaces like Kundiman. That together we would write, and write, and write; until the rest of the world recognizes Asian American Poetry as we do. As a battlecry, not an apology.”

Thank you for helping us celebrate and uplift the voices of AAPI writers. Your support is crucial to ensuring that more writers have access to spaces like the Retreat in the future.
