This interactive workshop on will focus on self-care though breathing, stretching, meditation, writing, and sharing. Thinking deeply about family and lineage, poetry creates a space for care—care for lost and silenced narratives, care for transnational tongues, and care for the parents and elders who raised us. The word “kundiman,” which means love song, gathers more power in this context of care and dedication. How do Asian American poets care for their families through their work? How do their families respond to their poems? How does writing about our lineage impact our sense of self?
In this Workshop, Kundiman poet Cathy Linh Che and others will share their stories about writing as a form of nurturing dedication.
