There are rare objects in the world, ones you search for in the dark of night, objects that give you both spark and flame and leave you not burnt but burning with the will to live, to breathe, to radiate. Kundiman is such a thing. I feel blessed to have been welcomed three
years ago into the world of Kundiman. With its summer retreat of profound writers, its sparkling reading series, and its passion-filled leaders, Kundiman provided me with a necessary gift: the space not only to write but to reflect, re-vision, and re-energize. In my daily world of deadlines, duties, and distractions, it is a struggle to keep the writer’s flame alive. These days, to put poems to the page is itself a journey. It is with great thanks to Kundiman that I find my words – and world – still pitched at the brink of illumination.
